Adversity has played a big part in my life, but it won't define me. Instead, it's pushed me to overcome challenges, defy expectations, and create a better future for myself and others facing similar issues. Getting a higher education is my way to build a brighter tomorrow a tomorrow where I can succeed and help others along the way.

As a Haitian American, I’ve seen the strength of my community and the struggles that come with being underserved. I watched as family and neighbors often lacked the healthcare and support they really needed. I’ve had my own challenges too, like moments of doubt and balancing school, sports, and family responsibilities. But I always chose to keep going. I worked hard, stayed on the honor roll, and graduated in the top 15% of my class while playing football and running track for four years.

For me, education is a powerful change maker. It builds knowledge, boosts confidence, and opens doors that can seem shut due to tough times. I aim to earn a degree in physical therapy or nursing, where I can use my struggles to help heal others. I want to support people in my community who face the same obstacles I’ve seen like lack of access and financial issues. I want to treat every patient as a person and use my skills and empathy to make a difference.

What I've learned is that resilience isn't about not failing it's about bouncing back after setbacks. I've learned to manage my time, led by example, and ask for help when I need it. I've realized I can change the story not just for myself, but for future generations. By earning a college degree, I’ll be the first in my family to go into the medical field, and I hope to motivate others from similar backgrounds to pursue careers that can uplift our communities.

This journey isn't just about me. It's about my younger siblings, the kids in my neighborhood, and all the Haitian youth wondering if they can achieve more. I want to show that you can come from humble beginnings and still achieve greatness through hard work, support, and education.

Through higher education, I’ll build a future where service, knowledge, and purpose come together. I’ll break cycles, lift others up, and keep growing not just as a student but as a future healthcare provider, leader, and role model. I’m not just after a degree; I’m after change. And I won’t stop until it happens.
